HOME

If you are looking for a perfect getaway and peaceful place filled with sun and forest than our Inn is a perfect place for you! Tucked away in the heart of the Highlands in North Carolina is a location of our 1996 founded peace of heaven. Our location is in the cool elevations of the Blue Ridge Mountains and less than an hour from the Great Smokey Mountains. It is an ideal spot to stay in Highlands, nestled in the cool elevations of the Blue Ridge Mountains, close to town, yet so peaceful and quiet.

We are a silly pair of old traveler that spent years abroad and we used our experience and created this place so it can be a home for every visitor. We traveled around the globe but we spent the most time in the Mediterranean where we felt in love with small towns, little fisherman villages, organic farms, untouched nature, and the warmest hospitality in the world. We spent the most time in Italy, Croatia, and Greece. We learned the ways of making vine, cheese, traditional dishes; but what impacted us the most was untouched nature. Hiking in the Alps, visiting national parks, and seeing a million little wonders of Mother Nature like the Blue Grotto on Bisevo Island (Croatia, Adriatic sea), that left us speechless. Absorbing all those experiences made us create one of our own that we are proudly present in our 4 and ½ Street Inn.

WHAT TO DO IN 4 and a half Street INN

4 and ½ Street Inn offers the ultimate comfort, charm, and convenience for every visitor. You can hike in nature, ride our bicycle into town, settle down with a good book and enjoy birds songs in the gardens, or relax by the fire. Our goal is to make this your personal retreat. It takes 2 hours’ drive from Atlanta, little more than 3 hours from Knoxville, 3 and a half hours from Charlotte and Columbia to get to us, and once you are here you are less than half an hour from the Great Smokey Mountains. We are just a short walk from the many Highlands unique restaurants, and in Highlands, there are many events like Chamber Music, Art Exhibits, and more.

We have ten unique and charmingly decorated guest rooms and all of our guests are treated with a hearty gourmet breakfast. We make fresh French Toast Strata with Apple Cider Syrup, Ginger Scones, Frittatas, Cheese Grits, Corn-Apple Pancakes and homemade Granola, and to top it all we make delicious homemade cookies every day. Breathing clean mountain air, taking a nice soak in the hot tub or just relaxing in a rocking chair on the deck can make a feeling of having your own private retreat. This place will revitalize you and melt the stress away.

HOW TO BOOK A ROOM

Unfortunately, we don’t do online reservations as we have a completely different approach. All of our rooms are unique just like every visitor, so we like to communicate with our guests via phone or email. By communicating with our potential guests we are able to provide more information about our offer and have a better look into the needs and expectations of the guest. We want to provide the best experience possible for our guests even if it means to suggest an alternative to our place. We believe that the proof that our method is right is the fact that we have so many guests coming back year after year.

RESERVATIONS: require a one night deposit at the time the reservation is being made and is payable by Visa, MasterCard, cash or check.

CANCELLATIONS: require a 14-day notice. Reservations canceled at any time will carry a $25.00 cancellation fee.

GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAINS

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park was established in 1934, and, with over 11 million visits per year, it is the most visited national park in the United States. They are a subrange of the Appalachian Mountains and form part of the Blue Ridge Physiographic Province. The Great Smokies are also home to the densest black bear population in the Eastern United States and the most diverse salamander population outside of the tropics. The name “Smoky” comes from the natural fog that often hangs over the range and presents as large smoke plumes from a distance. If you are an outdoor lover there are so many things to do in the National Park. Newfound Gap Road is the first thing you should do, it can be accessed from the main parkway in Gatlinburg that leads to the Sugarlands Visitor Center; follow the signs to Cherokee. Sugarlands Visitor Center features extensive natural history exhibits and screens a free 20-minute film about the park. The center also houses a bookstore, a gift shop, restrooms and a variety of information including trail maps. The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, a nearly 6-mile-long, one-way loop road, offers spectacular mountain scenery and access to two of the region’s most popular waterfalls: Rainbow Falls and Grotto Falls. Cades Cove is an isolated valley that was once home to many of the early Southern Appalachian settlers. You can see 18th and 19th-century cabins, three churches, and a working grist mill, as well as other historic outbuildings. Clingmans Dome is the highest point in Tennessee, and also in the park itself. On a clear day, you may be able to see more than 100 miles. We could continue naming things to do in the Great Smokey Mountains endlessly, but the fact is that National Park is a truly amazing place.
